EXTENSION OF A NURSING, CONVALESCENCE AND RETIREMENT HOME ALONG LAKE LUGANO

An ad hoc project to develop a new area in the retirement residence Rivabella. Perfect management of contracts for the contractors (in separate lots) providing a coherent works management, as a result of a high-profile project management.

As always, ARTECH has drafted contractor specifications and represented the client before all the professional parties involved.

DISCRETION AND LUXURY FOR THE RETIREMENT EDEN.

ARTECH has managed the works to extend the Residenza Rivabella, one of the most famous luxury retirement homes for the elderly in Switzerland. A paradise overlooking Lake Lugano surrounded by a park providing privacy.

Discretion and an obsessive attention to detail are, in fact, the two core values of the facility.

The structural development still underway has involved various areas: first of all, the park itself, followed by an independent living area and a wellness area with adjoining multi-functional wing.

Starting from outside, the park was re-adapted with new paths, foot-bridges and relaxation areas achieved by an intelligent use of cantilevered platforms positioned over the artificial lake.

A new way of making greater use of the outdoor space in spring and autumn as well.
The first floor of the new building linked to the old one by the dining room, has thirteen new independent apartments (mono and two-roomed) including living area, services and terrace with a lake view.
The communal areas are comprised of corridors with various open patios which include relaxation areas with coffee tables and chairs where people can congregate or relax.

The volume of the cantilevered first floor, compared with the ground floor, gives a particularly light effect to the architectural composition and makes it possible to obtain open and covered spaces so as to be able to enjoy all its potentials even during spring and autumn.

If the first floor has been designed for the enjoyment of the spaces, the ground floor is an area dedicated to shared wellness and management of the Residenza. In fact, it houses the SPA, the multi-functional glazed room, a bar and offices for the personnel.
The SPA area on the ground floor is equipped with swimming-pool, Kneipp wheel, sauna, Turkish bath, relaxation and hydrotherapy room with salt room; there are also medical surgeries and massage rooms. Airy and connecting to the outdoors, the ground floor is fitted with windows that fold back completely, bringing the external areas of the park and the lake inside the retirement home.
